1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster (Matching Numbers)

1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster (Matching Numbers)

An extremely rare and unique 1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster, this matching numbers, Heritage certificate holding, Triple Black E type (with its matching professionally restored hard top), was in great condition and very well documented when purchased by its current owner in 2014. After a comprehensive professional evaluation of the vehicles history and condition he decided to take the car to the next level and make it a truly capable, fully restored show car.

After the evaluation of the engine and drivetrain, all of the components were removed, rebuilt and resealed as needed. The engine bay was then media blasted and painted in preparation for the installation of its fully refreshed, buffed, freshly painted and clearcoated drivetrain including engine, transmission, suspension and rear differential unit. While the drivetrain was out the car was disassembled, sanded to bare metal with its chassis media blasted, treated to comprehensive, professional, high-end bodywork and paint with all of its chrome either being replated or replaced. All of this work was beautifully documented, both photographically and with a complete paper trail.

With all of the mechanicals completely refreshed and sorted and its paint and body work complete, it was reassembled with a complete new interior from seat covers and seat foams to the dash top, dash facia, door panels, carpets, interior trim and a new professionally installed cloth top. During the year and a half restoration all rubber items from engine mounts to cooling hoses to weatherstripping and suspension bushings were replaced.

According to his heritage certificate this car was built in December 1969 is a custom order in triple black for its first owner in Palm Springs California. The car stayed with this owner from 1970 to 1988 then being sold to another Palm Springs owner where it remained until 2008. All of it service and repair records have been retained.

After this stunning professional restoration the owner wanted to bring the car to be the best possible expression of an E type Roadster. He purchased an entire original new set of TRIPLE SU carburetors with their manifold, linkages and supporting parts which he had professionally installed and tuned. The original Stromberg carburetors and manifold will be sold with the car.

Within the last year the car has received several documented maintenance services including a new battery, clutch master cylinder, LED instrument lighting , PerTronics electronic ignition and more.

Overall this unique, high-end restoration of a beautifully documented XKE is a stunning car, in excellent show ready condition with the best possible upgrades and options and in very desirable rare colors.
