1977 Datsun 280 ZX
Starting with a very nice, documented California 280 Z car which was sold to a gentleman in Las Vegas Nevada who decided to greatly improve the car while fully restoring it.
In 2013, roughly 4000 miles ago, a New 1996 Corvette LT4 330 hp fuel injected V-8 was professionally installed and mated to a 5 speed Borg Warner manual transmission with a heavy duty clutch, heavy duty R 2000 rear end and then fitted with Sanderson headers and a custom 3 inch stainless exhaust system. The cooling system was upgraded with a oversized aluminum radiator and an electric cooling fan was also added as well as a K&N air cleaner induction system.
This suspension was lowered & reworked New springs, new Tokico shocks new bushings while the brakes are four wheel disc with diagonally drilled rotors in the rear and new calipers and lines in the front it was also fitted with a new alternator, starter, ECU, strut bushings, crank sensor, water pump, MSD ignition system and distributor, and three-point seatbelts. The wheels were replaced with wider 1982 Turbo ZX wheels fitted with Yokohama high-performance tires and new center caps added. The interior refurbishment included new reupholstered white seats, which are now heated, a new center console, shift boot, new clock, new Dash top and interior hardware, new carpet set throughout, new Datsun logo floor mats, new door panels and a Sanyo radio system.
The car was rewired with new fuse blocks, new wiring harness, new fuel sending unit, new fuel pump also a new steering column and controls, new tie rod ends and a new glove box were added. Fitted with the bumpers from the 1973 260 Z this car is truly unique. While looking basically stock, with the exception of the sunroof that was added, the car is incredibly powerful but beautifully put together. A 330 hp fuel injected, electronic ignition engine in a car originally fitted with 149 hp straight six is the ultimate Beast from the East as a sleeper.
The car is documented back to pictures of it pre-restoration in the early 90s as well as its original California and Nevada title and vast amount of paperwork involving the outfit and restoration of the car. it also comes with a brand new set of digital instruments, still in the boxes and a new set of rubber seals for the car, still in the bags.
